EMN 2021 | Novel models of interaction between patients and HCPs

Heinz Ludwig, MD, Wilhelminen Cancer Research Institute, Wilhelminenspital, Vienna, Austria, shares a summary of his talk on novel models of interaction between the patient and care team, as presented at EMN 2021. Prof. Ludwig discusses how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the delivery of healthcare services, highlighting the increased adoption of telemedicine and the development of systems to ensure patients requiring immediate contact with healthcare professionals (HCPs) are identified. Prof. Ludwig also outlines the benefits of telemedicine for patients, such as a reduction in the number of hospital visits and improved adherence to therapy, and for care teams, such as enabling access to quality-of-life assessment data in real-time. Finally, Prof. Ludwig discusses the challenges of implementing these technologies. This interview took place during the 2021 European Myeloma Network (EMN) congress.
