Lydia Pecker, MD, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, MD, briefly comments on the results of a cross-sectional study which used data from the US National Inpatient Sample to investigate risk of severe maternal morbidity in patients with sickle cell disease (SCD) and to compare the adverse pregnancy outcomes in these patients to those seen in patients with prenatal anemia but without SCD. This interview was recorded at the 18th Annual Scientific Conference on Sickle Cell and Thalassemia (ASCAT) 2023, held in London, UK.
