IMS 2023 | Highlights of IMS 2023: the origins of myeloma and the role of the microenvironment

Wee Joo Chng, MB ChB, MRCP, MRCPath, PhD, National University of Singapore, Singapore, comments on his highlights of the 20th International Myeloma Society (IMS) Annual Meeting, including presentations on the pathogenesis of myeloma. Further research is required to elucidate how plasma precursor cells develop into monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS), and subsequently into myeloma. Prof. Chng additionally talks on the potential role of the tumor microenvironment in enhancing the current understanding of myeloma. This interview took place at the 20th IMS Annual Meeting, held in Athens, Greece.
