EBMT 2026 | The GoCART Observership Programme: promoting knowledge transfer & building a European CAR-T network

In this video, Marion Subklewe, MD, Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich, Munich, Germany, introduces the GoCART Observership Programme. This initiative connects emerging CAR T-cell therapy centers with experienced cellular therapy centers in Europe, aiming to provide real-world experience and build a community through mentorship and networking. Dr Subklewe highlights that the program has already matched 14 centers, offering financial support and facilitating 1–2-week placements at established institutions for physicians to learn best practices in cellular therapy. This interview took place at the 52nd Annual Meeting of the EBMT in Madrid, Spain.

So the GoCART Observership Initiative is trying to connect different centers from Europe. Those centers that are experienced in providing CAR T-cell therapy and having a matching system to centers that are just emerging and are just building up their CAR T-cell program. And we just initiated this program last year in October, and we are really happy that we are already able to match 14 centers. So we have centers from all over Europe that we have now matched based on language, based on adult or pediatric needs, and that are visiting for one or two weeks a center of excellence in the CAR T-cell field and can sort of have a real-time, real-world experience looking at all the different aspects, not only how you take care of these patients, but also on the logistics that you have to provide at a CAR T-cell center. And we are financially supporting both centers, so the center that is emerging, but also the host center. And we also would like to build up a CAR T-cell community and sort of implement like a mentor, menteeship, because clearly not all complications that you might experience and your challenge with when you’re an emerging center will happen in those two weeks we are visiting but having sort of a personal and close interaction we hopefully can build up also over time and network supporting each other.
