ASH 2019 | Immune checkpoint blockade upfront in older AML and HR-MDS

Amer Zeidan, MBBS, MHS, Yale University and Yale Cancer Center, New Haven, CT, discusses the first large randomized trial (NCT02775903) of azacitidine with or without immune checkpoint blockade in older unfit acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and higher-risk myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS). While the study did not reach its primary endpoint, Dr Zeidan reveals the important insights that can be taken away.
