Academic History
Mazyar Shadman, MD, MPH, is an Associate Professor in the Clinical Research Division at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, Seattle, WA, and in the Division of Hematology and Oncology at the University of Washington School of Medicine, Seattle, WA. He holds several leadership positions at Fred Hutch, including Medical Director of Cellular Immunotherapy and Medical Director of the Bezos Family Immunotherapy Clinic, and he is the Innovators Network Endowed Chair. Dr Shadman earned his medical degree from Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Tehran, Iran, and later completed a Master of Public Health in Cancer Epidemiology at the University of Washington. He undertook his internship and residency training in Internal Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, OH, followed by a fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center/ University of Washington.
Speaking on novel therapeutic agents and immunotherapy for lymphoid malignancies
Dr Shadman is a leading clinician-scientist in the field of lymphoid malignancies, including chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL). His research is focused on advancing precision medicine through the development and clinical testing of novel therapeutic agents, immunotherapies (specifically CAR T-cell therapy), and stem cell transplantation. He investigates disease progression, therapeutic response, and treatment sequencing, with the goal of personalizing care for patients with high-risk lymphoid cancers.
