Academic History

Marco Ruella, MD, earned his medical degree and specialized in clinical hematology at the University Of Torino, Torino, Italy. Dr Ruella later completed a post-doctoral Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania in the Center for Cellular Immunotherapies, Philadelphia, PA. Since 2018, Dr Ruella has held the position of Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hematology/Oncology at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA, and he is also the Scientific Director of the Lymphoma Program at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. 

Speaking on CAR T-cell therapy for the treatment of hematological malignancies

Dr Ruella’s research aims to elucidate the mechanisms of relapse and resistance following CAR T-cell therapy in patients with relapsed/refractory (R/R) leukemia and lymphoma. He has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals discussing his work on targeted immunotherapies and has invented several patents for CAR T-cell therapy. Throughout the past decade, Dr Ruella has received a large number of prestigious awards and honors for his valuable contributions to the field.
