Marco Ruella, MD, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA, shares some insights into a study which evaluated the impact of the gut microbiome on patient response to CAR-T therapy. Results from this study demonstrated that exposure to certain antibiotics prior to CAR-T cell infusion may result in a poorer outcome, and Dr Ruella highlights the need for more research in this space. This interview took place at the EBMT-EHA 5th European CAR T-cell Meeting held in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
