EBMT 2021 | Donor attrition and back-up strategies during the COVID-19 pandemic

Christian Chabannon, MD, PhD, Institut Paoli Calmettes, Marseille, France, discusses challenges related to donor attrition, in particular during the COVID-19 pandemic, and back-up strategies to overcome them. Prof. Chabannon highlights the possibility of recruiting multiple donors and of using cryopreservation. Prof. Chabannon also discusses challenges associated with optimizing donor selection, such as whether or not to consider biomarkers and age. This interview took place during the 47th Annual Meeting of the European Group for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT) 2021.
