Christian Chabannon, MD, PhD, is a Professor of Medicine in Cell Biology at Aix Marseille Université (AMU) School of Medicine, Marseille, France. He is also a board-certified physician that specializes in hematology and medical oncology, practicing at the Institut Paoli-Calmettes, Marseille, France and at the Comprehensive Cancer Centre, Marseille, France. Further, Prof. Chabannon is the Coordinator of ‘Centre d’Investigations Cliniques en Biotherapies de Marseille’ which aims to unify clinical investigations about cellular therapies in the major metropolitan areas in France.
Prof. Chabannon has been the Cellular Therapy & Immunobiology Working Party (CTIWP) Chair of the European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT) since 2017 and was Co-Chair of the International Society of Cell & Gene Therapy (ISCT) 2020 Annual Meeting.

Prof. Chabannon has a specific research interest in hematopoietic stem biology and how transplantation and gene therapies can be transformed using this particular field. His most recent involvement includes a prospective Phase I clinical trial investigating donor-derived NK-cell infusion as a prophylactic treatment after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for patients with hematologic malignancies.
