Marije van der Lee, Phd from the Helen Dowling Institute, Utrecht, Netherlands provides advice to clinicians who treat patients with fatigue after cancer treatment. Dr van der Lee explains that fatigue is a multifactorial problem and there can be co-morbid medical conditions that need to be ruled out as causes of fatigue. Often, there are also psychological factors that play an important role. There are several studies on exercise and activity during treatment, to prevent fatigue and she explains how in their study looking at interventions for fatigue, patients spread their activity throughout the day to make sure their energy levels are balanced. Further, there are different types of activities and she explains that is important to balance these activities as well. Recorded at the 2017 British Society for Haematology (BSH) Annual Scientific Meeting in Brighton, UK.
