Christina Peters, MD, St. Anna Children’s Hospital, Vienna, Austria, discusses the drawbacks and challenges that we must overcome in CAR T-cell treatment in pediatric cases of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Complications can include inability to collect enough lymphocytes and potential viral infections. In addition, Dr Peters discusses the success rate of the treatment and importance of monitoring the patient’s progress once in remission.
