Academic history

Christina Peters, MD, is Professor of Pediatrics at the Department of Stem Cell Transplantation, St. Anna Children’s Hospital, Vienna, Austria. Prof. Peters is also Principal Investigator for active clinical trials investigating pediatric leukemia treatments within the European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT) and International BFM (IBFM).

Prof. Peters was the EBMT Pediatric Diseases Working Party Chair between 2008 and 2014 and has membership of various professional societies such as IBFM, the German and Austrian Society of Pediatric Hematology, and the Austrian Gene Therapy Commission. Additionally, Prof. Peters serves on the advisory board of the Austrian Ministry of Health, is part of the bioethical committee of the Austrian Prime Minister, and is a member of the European Network Pediatric Research at EMA (ENPREMA).

Speaking on HSCT and pediatric leukemia

Prof. Peters has been a key influencer in the field of pediatric leukemia through her extensive work on hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) in children and adolescents. Prof. Peters has authored and co-authored numerous papers in the field of pediatric leukemia, most recently on ABO incompatible graft management in pediatric transplantation and on myeloablative conditioning for allogeneic HSCT in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Prof. Peters is also the international study chair for the multinational, multi-centre Phase II/III FORUM trial (NCT01949129) investigating allogeneic HSCT in children and adolescents with ALL.
