EBMT 2026 | Outcomes of a real-world comparison of standard-of-care ide-cel and cilta-cel in R/R myeloma

Florent Malard, MD, PhD, Saint-Antoine Hospital and Sorbonne University, Paris, France, discusses the outcomes from a real-world study comparing standard-of-care idecabtagene vicleucel (ide-cel) and ciltacabtagene autoleucel (cilta-cel) in relapsed/refractory (R/R) multiple myeloma (MM). Dr Malard highlights that cilta-cel demonstrated a higher overall response rate (ORR) compared with ide-cel, as demonstrated in previous prospective studies. This interview took place at the 52nd Annual Meeting of the EBMT in Madrid, Spain.

For myeloma, we have two CAR T-cells available so far, ide-cel and Cilta-cel, so the availability of the CAR T-cell will depend from one country to the other. But on the EBMT registry, we’re able to run real-world evidence data to compare these two approaches. And very similar to what we saw in the prospective study that has been conducted. We have some higher overall response rate with Cilta-cel compared to Ide-cel on a better outcome of the patient that truly confirm what we see in the study on that also confirm that why the physician when they have access to both CAR T-cells are more using now Cilta-cel versus Ide-cel for their patients...
