SOHO 2021 | Genetic ancestry: the implications for biology and prognosis of childhood ALL

Shawn Lee, MD, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, TN, explains how genetic ancestry has a role in the biology and prognosis of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL). Dr Lee discusses the findings of his recent paper which may explain the racial disparities observed in ALL subtypes and how the different biology between races can impact survival outcomes. More research is needed to elucidate exactly how genetic ancestry impacts survival outcomes. This interview took place during the ninth annual meeting of the Society of Hematologic Oncology (SOHO 2021) congress.
