SOHO 2021 | Genetic mutations in ALL patients & implications for treatment decisions

Shawn Lee, MD, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, TN, discusses the genetic alterations found in patients with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL) and how impacts treatment decisions. Dr Lee describes the different genetic subtypes of ALL and the categorization of favorable, intermediate, and high-risk groups. Dr Lee also explains the prevalence of the different subgroups among different races and the treatment approaches used, before commenting on the importance of subtyping on treatment protocol design in different countries. This interview took place during the ninth annual meeting of the Society of Hematologic Oncology (SOHO 2021) congress.
