Paul Richardson, MD, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, MA, discusses an updated analysis from the phase III DETERMINATION trial (NCT01208662) evaluating the impact of Duffy-null genotype on progression-free survival (PFS) with lenalidomide, bortezomib and dexamethasone (RVd) therapy and early versus deferred autologous stem cell transplant in multiple myeloma. He highlights differences in treatment effect according to Duffy-null status and the potential implications for transplant timing, while emphasizing that these findings remain hypothesis-generating and should be considered alongside other patient and disease factors. This interview took place at the 23rd International Myeloma Society (IMS) Annual Meeting in Glasgow, UK.
