COMy 2016 | Why it is crucial to assess response in multiple myeloma
Carlos Fernandez de Larrea, MD, PhD from the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain gives an overview of his talk on response assessment in multiple myeloma (MM) held at the 2016 World Congress on Controversies in Multiple Myeloma (COMy) in Paris, France. According to Dr de Larrea, the response assessment in MM is crucial. It is important to establish whether a patient has achieved complete remission (CR) and to identify patients who are relapsing or progressing after different lines of treatment. Dr de Larrea further discusses the various techniques used to assess response, such as electrophoresis in serum and urine and imaging techniques.
