IMW 2021 | Patient empowerment in myeloma

Heinz Ludwig, MD, of the Wilhelminen Cancer Research Institute, Wilhelminenspital, Vienna, Austria, and Hermann Einsele, MD, FRCP, of the University of Würzburg, Würzburg, Germany, discuss the importance of patient empowerment, a critical aim of the International Myeloma Society. Prof. Ludwig explains that educated patients are better able to seek advice, respond better in difficult situations, and are better able to discuss the management of their treatment, translating into improved emotional wellbeing. This interview took place during the 18th International Myeloma Workshop (IMW 2021) congress.
