A new era for AML? Lower-intensity frontline therapy and results from the Phase II PARADIGM trial

Amir Fathi, MD, MPH, Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, MA, presents on the evolving frontline treatment paradigm for patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML), including hypomethylating agents and venetoclax-based regimens as alternatives to intensive induction chemotherapy. Dr Fathi outlines current approaches, including intensive chemotherapy plus a FLT3 inhibitor for FLT3-mutated AML, and discusses results from the Phase II PARADIGM trial (NCT04801797) evaluating azacitidine and venetoclax versus induction chemotherapy in fit patients. He also explores decitabine plus venetoclax as a bridge to allogeneic stem-cell transplant (alloSCT) and unanswered questions around triplet regimens. This presentation took place at the 8th International Workshop on Acute Leukemias (iwAL) in Cambridge, MA.
