Francesco Maura, MD, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, University of Miami, Miami, FL, briefly discusses the significance of certain genomic events in multiple myeloma (MM), namely deletions before and after large chromosomal gains. These events affect gene expression and tumor characterization, and detecting specific gene losses in patients could improve patient stratification and treatment. This interview took place at the 21st International Myeloma Society (IMS) Annual Meeting, held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
