Nathan Sweeney, PhD, HealthTree, Lehi, UT, shares some insights into a study which investigated whether exposure to pesticides increased the risk of patients developing multiple myeloma or progressing from smoldering myeloma and monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS) to multiple myeloma. While environmental exposure to certain pesticides did not directly lead to the development of myeloma in this study, other factors, including gender and presence of del(13q) in females had an impact on disease progression. This interview took place at the 8th World Congress on Controversies in Multiple Myeloma (COMy) 2022, held in Paris, France.
