EBMT 2022 | Patient access to therapies in Central and Eastern Europe

Jana Pelouchová, Diagnoza leukemie, Prague, Czech Republic, speaks on the perspectives for patients’ access to newly developed treatments in Czech Republic and Eastern Europe. In these regions, the healthcare agenda is the same as that of Western European countries, but healthcare stakeholders work with a lower budget and there are differences in reimbursement schemes. Ms Pelouchová explains that patient advocacy organizations play an important role in engaging with healthcare stakeholders to reduce disparities in access to novel therapies. This interview took place at the 48th Annual Meeting of the European Group for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT) 2022, which was held virtually.
