Elisabeth Dovern, MD, Amsterdam UMC, Amsterdam, Netherlands, discusses a study investigating patient-reported outcomes of allogeneic stem cell transplantation (alloSCT) in sickle cell disease (SCD). The study found that 18 months post-alloSCT, patients reported improvements in physical function, pain, fatigue, and social functioning. However, qualitative interviews indicated that some patients needed support to address mental health challenges. This interview took place at the 29th Congress of the European Hematology Association (EHA) in Madrid, Spain.
