Santosh Saraf, MD, University of Illinois Hospital, Chicago, IL, speaks on the role of von Willebrand factor (VOF) and its influence on vascular injury in sickle cell disease (SCD). VOF may be a marker of endothelial stress, and VOF levels could be used to predict which patients are at risk of multiple organ failure.
