Pallawi Torka, MD, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York City, NY, shares some insights into current treatment options for older patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). Dr Torka first highlights the importance of using a geriatric assessment to determine the biological age of a patient, as shown by data from the Elderly Project trial (NCT02364050), and discusses appropriate regimens for these patients. Dr Torka also comments on preliminary data from the POLAR BEAR study (NCT04332822), the use of pre-phase therapy to improve a patient’s tolerance to chemotherapy, and concludes by highlighting the drawbacks of CNS prophylaxis in these patients. This interview took place at the Eleventh Annual Meeting of the Society of Hematologic Oncology (SOHO 2023) held in Houston, TX.
