COMy 2023 | Why are elderly patients underrepresented in myeloma clinical trials?

In this video, Heinz Ludwig, MD, Wilhelminen Cancer Research Institute, Wilhelminenspital, Vienna, Austria, offers insight into the current underrepresentation of older patients in clinical trials for multiple myeloma. Prof. Ludwig explains that clinical trials can have complex or demanding requirements of enrolled patients and that older patients may have more trouble understanding and adhering to these requirements. Prof. Ludwig further notes that it can be logistically difficult for older patients living in community or nursing home settings to access the institutes and receive trial therapies. This interview took place at the 9th World Congress on Controversies in Multiple Myeloma (COMy) 2023, held in Paris, France.
