ICML 2021 | Treating lymphoma in the developing world

Franco Cavalli, MD, FRCP, Oncology Institute of Southern Switzerland, Bellinzona, Switzerland, discusses challenges pediatric patients in the developing world face in terms of accessing lymphoma treatments. The latest medications for various lymphomas such as diffuse large B-cell lymphoma or Burkitt lymphoma remain inaccessible for many patients and financial assistance to families may decrease abandonment of treatment, increasing the response rate of patients. Altering protocols by lowering the intensity of treatment or avoiding high-toxicity medication such as methotrexate may additionally improve patient outcomes. This interview took place during the 2021 International Conference on Malignant Lymphoma (16-ICML).
