SOHO 2023 | The influence of HLA factors on donor selection for haploidentical transplantation

Rohtesh Mehta, MD, MPH, MS, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle, WA, discusses factors to consider when selecting haploidentical donors for stem cell transplantation (SCT), highlighting the contribution of HLA factors on patient outcomes. Dr Mehta references a retrospective study of patients who underwent haploidentical SCT, which showed an improved overall survival (OS) in patients matched at the HLA-B leader site. Dr Mehta also talks on the influence of other HLA loci including HLA-DPB1, HLA-DRB1 and HLA-C. This interview took place at the Eleventh Annual Meeting of the Society of Hematologic Oncology (SOHO 2023) held in Houston, TX.
