Rohtesh Mehta, MD, MPH, MS, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle, WA, discusses factors to consider when selecting mismatched unrelated donors (MMUDs) for stem cell transplantation (SCT) and comments on the need for more studies in this space. Dr Mehta highlights a recent study evaluating peptide binding motif (PBM) matching, and concludes by discussing the influence of factors such as donor age and graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) prophylaxis regimens.
