Antonio Perez-Martinez, MD, PhD, La Paz University Hospital, Madrid, Spain, comments on the outcomes of pediatric patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) who have undergone haploidentical and cord blood transplantation. Dr Perez-Martinez explains that both of these procedures lead to similar outcomes and the expertise of each individual center should be considered when selecting between haploidentical and cord blood transplantation.
