Courtney DiNardo, MD, MSCE, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX, presents data from studies incorporating venetoclax into intensive chemotherapy-based induction for patients with newly diagnosed acute myeloid leukemia (ND AML). Dr DiNardo highlights that adding venetoclax improves measurable residual disease (MRD)-negative composite complete remission rates, except in patients with TP53 mutations or MECOM rearrangements. This enables more patients to proceed to transplant and improves survival. This presentation took place at the 8th International Workshop on Acute Leukemias (iwAL) in Cambridge, MA.
