Laurent Garderet, MD, Sorbonne University APHP, Paris, France, discusses a global registry study which evaluated the baseline characteristics and clinical outcomes of patients with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma (NDMM) undergoing upfront autologous stem cell transplantation (autoSCT). Data was collected from seven registries, and Dr Garderet shares some insights into the statistical methods used, as well as the overall survival (OS), progression-free survival (PFS) and non-relapse mortality (NRM) rates. In the second part of this study, the seven registries were compared, and Dr Garderet highlights differences in the number of autoSCTs in conducted in each registry, the median age of patients transplanted, and the percentage of tandem transplants. This interview took place at the 2023 Transplantation & Cellular Therapy Meetings of ASTCT™ and CIBMTR® held in Orlando, FL.
