SOHO 2023 | Challenges with MDS classification: morphological characterization and molecular testing

Uwe Platzbecker, MD, University of Leipzig, Leipzig, Germany, discusses challenges associated with the morphological characterization of myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), highlighting issues such as inter-observer variability. Prof. Platzbecker also comments on recent revisions to the World Health Organization (WHO) classification of MDS, and further emphasizes the importance of molecular testing in the assessment of patients with MDS. This interview took place at the Eleventh Annual Meeting of the Society of Hematologic Oncology (SOHO 2023) held in Houston, TX.
