Orla McCourt, MSc, MCSP, University College London NHS Foundation Trust, London, UK, discusses the results of a study evaluating the impact of physiotherapist-led exercise prehabilitation before and during treatment with autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (autoHSCT) in patients with multiple myeloma. The study reported an improvement in cancer-related fatigue and quality of life (QoL), and highlighted the need for assessing objective measures of function to identify frail patients and improve their function pre-treatment with physiotherapy. This interview took place at the 19th International Myeloma Society Meeting (IMS) held in Los Angeles, CA.
