Laura Saavedra, MD, Bone Marrow Transplant Unit “Dr. Abraham Sumoza”, Valencia, Venezuela, comments on the management of adult patients undergoing autologous stem cell transplantation (autoSCT) in an outpatient setting in a transplant center in Venezuela. Dr Saavedra explains that patients come to the transplant center for a follow-up every two days and are encouraged to frequently communicate with their transplant physicians. This strategy allows patients to stay in the comfort of their own homes and to be surrounded by their families during the procedure. This interview took place at the 49th Annual Meeting of the European Group for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT) held in Paris, France.
