The 2022 Tandem Meetings | Patient-important outcomes in pediatric transplant recipients

Christopher Dandoy, MD, MSc, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Cincinnati, OH, gives an overview of the findings of a study exploring patient-important outcomes in pedatric hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) recipients. In this study, parents were asked a series of questions throughout the transplant procedure. Overall, it was found that there were concerns about the complications that can arise after HSCT, as well as difficulties to adjust to the inpatient setting, and managing visits to the hospital in addition to their lives at home. In addition, after the transplant procedure, parents expressed the difficulty for patients to adjust to daily life. This interview took place at the Transplantation & Cellular Therapy (TCT) Meetings of ASTCT™ and CIBMTR® 2022 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
