Giada Bianchi, MD, Brigham and Women’s Hospital & Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, MA, discusses the role of toxic circulating light chains and amyloid deposits in driving mortality in light chain (AL) amyloidosis. She highlights the importance of combining plasma cell-directed therapy to suppress light chain production with therapies that remove amyloid deposits and enable organ recovery, particularly in patients with advanced cardiac involvement.
