ASH 2020 | Genomic features of myeloma precursor conditions can predict clinical progression

Niccolò Bolli, MD, PhD, University of Milan, ltaly, presents data from the first comprehensive whole-genome sequencing (WGS) analysis of patients with monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS) and smoldering multiple myeloma (SMM). MGUS and SMM are clonal plasma cell expansions that routinely precede multiple myeloma (MM). The ability to use genomic features to predict progression may reshape the classification of precursor diseases and how they are dealt with. This interview took place during the 62nd American Society of Hematology (ASH) Annual Meeting and Exposition, 2020.
