In low and middle-income countries, cost is a major barrier to access to autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplantation (SCT). In this video, Guillermo José Ruiz-Argüelles, MD, FRCP, Universidad Popular Autónoma del Estado de Puebla, Puebla, Mexico, outlines strategies to reduce the costs of these procedures, including using non-frozen cells and more affordable drugs, as well as performing SCT on an outpatient basis.
