ESH CLL 2022 | The link between the tumor microenvironment & gene expression in CLL

Kostas Stamatopoulos, MD, PhD, Center for Research and Technology Hellas, Thessaloniki, Greece, discusses some recent research which identified a link between the tumor microenvironment and gene expression in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). Dr Stamatopoulos first highlights that there is increasing evidence supporting the role of the microenvironment in providing important drivers that contribute to CLL progression. Following this, Dr Stamatopoulos briefly discusses a recent study which found that upregulation of the TAp63 protein is linked with BCL2 overexpression in CLL, and is influenced by another key player, NF-kappa B. This interview took place during the 2nd ESH Translational Research Conference on Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (ESH CLL), 2022.
