COMy 2023 | Imaging in multiple myeloma: recent advances and ongoing challenges

Elena Zamagni, MD, PhD, University of Bologna, Bologna, Italy, discusses the important role of imaging in multiple myeloma, and recent advances that have been made with imaging techniques. Dr Zamagni explains that there are now clear guidelines on how to use and interpret imaging modalities, and comments on the increasing role of diffusion-weighted MRI. Ongoing challenges with imaging include how to best incorporate these techniques with other approaches used to monitor measurable residual disease (MRD), and Dr Zamagni also comments on a novel online platform being developed by the IMWG which will allow for imaging scans to be uploaded and evaluated. This interview took place at the 9th World Congress on Controversies in Multiple Myeloma (COMy) 2023, held in Paris, France.
