Kwee Yong
Academic History
Kwee Yong, PhD, FRCP, FRCPath, completed her MA at Oxford University, Oxford, UK, and MBBS and PhD at University College London (UCL), London, UK. Prof. Yong has been a senior lecturer and honorary consultant at UCL since 1999, and runs the undergraduate programme in hematology at UCL Medical School. She is also the clinical and academic lead in multiple myeloma (MM) at University College Hospital and the North London Cancer Network (NLCN), and was responsible for writing the NLCN guideline for the management of myeloma.
Speaking on the biology of multiple myeloma
Prof. Yong’s research interests are centered around multiple myeloma disease biology and mechanisms of bone disease, two areas she investigates as part of a laboratory program funded by Cancer Research UK, Kay Kendall Leukaemia Fund, and Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. Prof. Yong is also a member of the National Cancer Research Institute (NCRI) Myeloma Clinical Studies Group, and acts as the Principal Investigator on a number of National Cancer Research Network (NCRN) Phase II clinical trials investigating novel treatment strategies in myeloma.
