Kevin Kuo
Academic History
Kevin Kuo, MD, MSc, FRCPC, obtained his medical degree from Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at the University of Western Ontario, London, Canada, before undergoing his postgraduate training at the University of Toronto, Toronto, Canada. Presently, Dr Kuo is a practicing hematologist and clinician-investigator in the Red Blood Cell Program at Toronto General Hospital, University Health Network, Toronto, Canada. In addition to this, he is an Assistant Professor in the Institute of Health Policy, Management, and Evaluation, at the University of Toronto.
Speaking on the treatment of non-malignant hematological conditions
Dr Kuo focuses his clinical practice and research on non-malignant hematological disorders, specifically rare congenital hemolytic anemias. He is involved in late phase clinical trials investigating the efficacy and safety of novel agents for the treatment of conditions such as sickle cell disease (SCD) and thalassemia. Dr Kuo’s research interests also include investigating cognitive impairment in SCD, non-chelating strategies in the treatment of iron overload, and genetic modifiers of non-malignant hematological conditions.
