Academic History

Jan Philipp Bewersdorf, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine (Hematology) at Yale University. Dr Bewersdorf earned his medical degree in Germany, and completed his Internal Medicine training at Yale (New Haven Hospital). After his residency, Dr Bewersdorf pursued his fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York, NY, before joining the faculty at Yale in July 2024.

Speaking on the pathophysiology of AML and MDS

Dr Bewersdorf is an up-and-coming young researcher, focusing on acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS). He seeks to improve understanding of the underlying pathophysiology of these diseases, particularly the role of the immune system. Dr Bewersdorf also undertakes research into health economics and clinical epidemiology in order to improve patient care.
