Academic History
Jacqueline Garcia, MD, earned her medical degree at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, Chicago, IL, before completing her internship and residency training in Internal Medicine at the University of Chicago, Chicago, IL. Following this, she underwent Hematology and Oncology Fellowship training at Stanford University, Stanford, CA. At present, Dr Garcia is a medical oncologist in the Adult Leukemia Program at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Boston, MA.
Speaking on current and emerging treatment options in MDS and AML
Dr Garcia is involved in the design and execution of early-phase clinical trials and proof-of-concept studies, with the majority of her research focusing on the identification of novel therapeutic approaches that leverage the anti-apoptotic pathway in chemoresistant leukemia. She has received support for her research in the form of awards from the National Institutes of Health/National Cancer Institute, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and Conquer Cancer Foundation. Dr Garcia is also a practicing physician, treating patients with a range of hematological malignancies.
