Academic history

Bianca Santomasso, MD, PhD, is a Neuro-Oncologist & Neurologist at the Department of Neurology, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York City, NY. After receiving her undergraduate degree from Yale University, New Haven, CT, she attended the Tri-Institutional MD-PhD Program, obtaining her medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College, New York, NY, and her PhD in immunology from The Rockefeller University. Following this, Dr Santomasso completed her residency in neurology at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital Cornell, serving as Chief Resident during her final year. She undertook her fellowship in neuro-oncology at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, after which she joined the Department of Neurology.

Speaking on neurologic complications of cancer immunotherapies

Dr Santomasso is involved in clinical trials evaluating novel immunotherapy drugs. In the lab, she studies the tumor microenvironment with the goal of enhancing immune recognition of tumors and developing novel treatment strategies for brain tumor patients.
