ERIC CLL 2026 | Unmet needs in CLL genomics: heterogeneity and clinical impact

Elias Campo, MD, PhD, University of Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain, discusses the genomic landscape of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and notes that the high number of different mutations present in very few patients is a unique feature of this disease. Prof. Campo suggests that the heterogeneity may reflect distinct subtypes of the disease, with groups of mutations marking subtypes that differ biologically and, to a lesser extent, clinically. This interview took place at the 2026 ERIC International Meeting in Barcelona, Spain.
