iwMPN 2026 | When to switch JAK inhibitor therapy in myelofibrosis

John Mascarenhas, MD, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York, NY, discusses the importance of proactively reassessing treatment in patients with myelofibrosis who have an inadequate response to JAK inhibitors. He highlights the need to consider treatment switching when spleen response and symptom control remain suboptimal or anemia and thrombocytopenia develop, rather than waiting until the disease is more advanced. This interview took place at the 4th International Workshop on Myelodysplastic Syndromes & Myeloproliferative Neoplasms (iwMDS/iwMPN) 2026, held in Washington, D.C.
