IMS 2026 | Long-term PFS outcomes from PERSEUS & practical applications for treating NDMM
Pieter Sonneveld, MD, PhD, Erasmus MC, Rotterdam, Netherlands, discusses long-term outcomes from the PERSEUS trial (NCT03710603), which shows unprecedented progression-free survival (PFS) with daratumumab combined with bortezomib, lenalidomide, and dexamethasone (DVRd) in patients with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma (NDMM). Prof. Sonneveld notes that about 70% of patients who achieved measurable residual disease (MRD) negativity and a complete response could stop daratumumab and continue lenalidomide alone after a certain period, and that daratumumab plus lenalidomide maintenance improves response beyond induction and consolidation. This interview took place at the 23rd International Myeloma Society (IMS) Annual Meeting in Glasgow, UK.
